Hi there,

i am 27, male and i like to think i'm very healthy. i run 60 miles a week and have done for the last 3 years. my training has been gradual and sensible, ensuring that i sleep and eat/drink well. i am just shy of 6 ft and weigh just over 11 stone.

over the last 2 months i have had to stop running due to stomach cramps. They started on and off but now they are constant. i am aware that i have a mild diastasis rectus. this has been the case since i can remember and never caused any direct pain to my knowledge.

i have seen 3 drs on 4 seperate occassions and had an ultrasound..... still no diagnosis. my stomach tends to make lots of noice (rumbling and squelching) through the day and is worse at night.

has anyone had any experience of these sort of symptoms? i can only find diastasis information in terms of pregnant women, nothing in terms of athletes.

any experience would be worth hearing. I will post any progress which i make. for now i am on a 12 week core rehab program from my physio.... if this makes a difference to what feels like a hyper sensitive digestive symtom i will be very pleased/ suprised!

merry xmas to all

I have had a sudden onset of running cramp/ stitch in my side while running and I do have diastasis. It even comes when doing very light cardiovascular such as walking now.

I used to run a lot...militsry. last few years diastasis recit has formed and even turned into a ventral hernia. hernia is repaired...but I still have a 3"x4" bulge that protrudes above my belly button. My bowels constantly feel uncomfortable and often extremely painful. there are days where it will stick out so far and the pain is so bad that my shirt touching it hurts. Drs say it is nothing and dismiss my pain. quality of life is going down big time.
