For approximately the last twelve months I have been feeling increasingly worse. I started to notice that despite no change to my diet or exercise routine I was putting on weight solely around my stomach and more specifically, lower abdomen. This was soon accompanyed by cramp like pains and sometimes sharp stabbing pains. More recently this has spread to my lower back. I've also noticed that my stomach is extremely tender, sometimes to the point where i can't lay on my front as it feels like i've been winded....almost like i've taken a kick to the stomach. I have also been suffering with a constant vaginal discharge. I've been treated once for B.V. which did disappear, however this seems to be different as there is no fishy smell during intercourse, just a constant white discharge that smells a little like sour milk.
I went to the Doctor around six months ago for advice and was told it is more than likely IBS. I was given Mebeverin which did absolutely nothing. The only time I have had relief (in which my body completely returned to normal) was during a holiday abroad. I was due to have the Depo Provera the day before i flew but decided to come off it as I wasn't sure the hormones were doing me any good. The next day I came on my period and for that following week it was brilliant - stomach completely flat as it used to be with no pains (except the usual period pains) and generally feeling a whole lot better.
Since then I have not had another period - this is 5 months now. I am wondering what the cause is for this as I would presume if the Depo was going to interfere I would not have had periods throughout and immediately after.
I have, during the last week, given a stool sample to check for bacterial infection, parasites etc, a blood sample to check my hormone levels and try to decipher the cause for no periods, and a higher vaginal swab to identify the cause for the discharge.
I am not holding out much hope as it seems everything these days is put down as a result of IBS.
If anyone has similar symptoms, or any suggestions as to what this could be please let me know.

Hey, my name is Chris. I am very sad to hear that you are having trouble with distended stomach. It has been bothering my cousin for some time now and he also didn't know what to do. I suggested him that he should do blood tests and stool examination as well as full body examination. He did all of that, and it turned out it was some kind of bacteria that was causing all of his problems. He got better luckily. I hope you won't give up, I know it will be alright, but I suggest you to see a specialist if your results turn negative.

I should say that you might want to get tested for e.coli. I know someone who had it and it doesn't sound like they tested for it--but it caused symptoms similar to IBS. Do you think you could? Let me know!
