My 83 yo father was recently diagnosed with Buschke's scleredema. He saw a dermatologist who referred him to a rheunatologist who increased his synthroid (thyroid meds) and sent him on his merry way. We are having a hard time deciding what to do. Should we get a second opinion from another rheumatologist? See an endocrinologist? Is there any treatment for smeone this age? Is it a disease in itself or a symptom of an underlying condition? Does anyone know a great, caring, thorough MD in the NY who treats this mystery disease? Thanks
