Flax oil and flax seeds are being rediscovered lately, as a health food. Essential fatty acids are the most valuable ingredient of flax oil. It has a short shelf life, so it has more expensive produce, transport, and store costs. Some people have a custom to take flax oil in the morning. It is a good source of omega 3 acids, omega 6 acid, or linoleic acid (LA). Other oils like sunflower, safflower, and sesame oil are greater sources of omega 6 fatty acids but they don't contain any omega-3 fatty acids. Flax seed oil also contains high quality proteins, vitamins B1, B2, C and E, and carotenes, and minerals like iron, zinc.
