Hello,
I recently got a perscription for Adderall to treat my ADD. I was told that the brand name was not covered by my insurance so I had to get the generic. Does this work the same as the brand name? I am on 10mg to start and can increase to 20mg in a week or so. What are the differences if any in the brand name and generic? Thanks

brand is much stronger vs generic but maybe it's a good thing they gave generic you will have less anxiety.

I was in the same situation, but ive been on it for a while. Actually, the anxiety from the generic brand is much more noticeable, its not comfortable, and I don't focus as well. With the brand name, it feels more "rich", if that makes sense. Since your just starting the medication, I would say to try and save some money and see how it works out for u, but if u don't like it id say that trying the name brand would be worth a shot.

I just started taking the Adderall generic about a month ago and I just tried a second brand of the generic and I can say there is definitely a difference. Not a huge one, but a noticeable one. There may even be a difference from pill to pill of the same brand. I started 10mg of an oval-shaped, chalky, blue pill with one score mark. As I got to the bottom of the bottle (after a month), the last two days I had terrible anxiety. It may have just been my tolerance going down but it was strange. Anyway, I'd taken some in college that were completely different. They may have been name brand but I remember them helping me concentrate better. These are speedier and they make me more anxious. But I went to a different pharmacy for my last prescription and got a different brand of generic. This one is dark blue and round with two score marks and a better coating (the chalky ones stuck to the back of my throat). This one feels more like the ones from college. Also, it doesn't kill my appetite like the light blue ones. Still, now that I know there's a difference, I'd like to try the name brand just for comparison. Although the pharmacist talked me out of it last time saying there was no difference and it was only more expensive. Next time I'm not taking "no" for an answer!

I was taking the brand name first and went to get a refill and they told me to take the generic. I did and I can tell a HUGE difference. It doesnt even seem to help me focus. I have anxiety with the generic and I am not an anxious person. I've only taken 2 of the generic and I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and see what I can do because the generic is not a good fit for me.

I started with the brand and later moved to the generic. There is a hugh difference in the efficacy!!! The generic has what I call a dumping anxious feeling and doesn't last as long. I can't focus as well and have anxiety with the generic. I can even feel a varience between the different generics. It's worth it to cough up the extra cash for the Brand.

It depends. The difference can be quite noticeable for some people. Many find brand name Adderall works better. Others do fine with generic.

well I have been taking the Brand Adderall for over 5 years and now my insurance will only pay for generic. the generic Adderall they claim is the same main chemicals that the brand has but the other ingredients ARE DEFINITLY not the same or same levels because of the difference between the brand and generic is NIGHT and DAY .. that's BIG insurance assholes

Been on it for 20 years now, 30 mg xr twice a day, used the generic version for a long time, recently switched to brand and the medication feels weaker and wears out much faster. I prefer the generic Camber manufacturer.
