Hi All,

I'm 30.Male. I have ADD- recently diagnosed.
I was started on Ritalin at the start of the week, 5mg. Had no impact whatsoever. I upped it to 10mg. No impact yet again.
Out of frustration, I took 20mg one morning. It had no impact on my concentration, I just talked a little bit more, felt nostalgic and a bit emotional.

I'm upset that it hasn't worked. Is there anyone out there who's experienced the same? Is it possible that adderall or provigil could work if Ritalin doesn't?

All comments/thoughts welcome.

I am 19- almost exact same experience. I know I have ADD but this isn't working very well. more easily irritated, more gregarious sometimes.

I am 24 and recently diagnosed ADHD and I did the same thing you did. Started off with 5 mg, upped it to 10 mg. Later I added another 5 mg and still no reaction other than I feel like clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth a lot and I've never done that before. I also have a dull, annoying headache and my eyes feel heavy. I think I will try to up it to 15 mg at one time tomorrow morning. The insert says that it takes about 2 weeks for the effects of the drugs to actually work, so I'm just gonna keep at it and see how it goes.

I don't know tho, my doctor said that it should be pretty much instant. I heard that if ritalin doesn't work, that adderall should, as it lasts longer and has less side effects. I dont' know why he just didn't give me that in the first place... guess we'll see in a few weeks.

Day 3 on ritalin and I feel like the ritalin helps with my hyperactivity whereas the adderall helps with the focus.

Do people prescribe them together, I wonder?

I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 17 years old. My doctor decided to put me on Ritalin and the ONLY thing it did was make me angry even when there wasn't a reason to be angry.
I talked to my doctor about this and he decided to switch me to Adderall 5mg. Thankfully, it didn't make me mean or anything like that, it actually helped and I could tell a difference pretty soon after I started taking it.
If I were you, I would talk to the doctor about switching you to Adderall. I know that everyone's body chemistry is different but for me, Adderall is THE best!
Best wishes to you and good luck!
