Gonorrhoea is often symptomless, especially in women. When symptoms do occur, they appear 7 to 12 days in women. Women may have painful urination and a vaginal discharge.
Chlamydia trachomatis can cause symptoms similar to gonorrhoea. Like gonorrhoea, Chlamydia is often symptomless in women. The symptoms usually appear 5 to 10 days after exposure. Untreated infection can lead to the same serious complications as gonorrhoea.
