Couldn't find what you looking for?

Hi, I am 24 years old female and I always had strong and healthy hair. In the last several months I have noticed that my hair became thinner and weaker. Also I have changed job and move to another city so I didn't pay enough attention what I eat. I would like to know what vitamins are good for my hair.

Hi, lack of vitamins may be responsible for weakness of your hair. However stress also may heave important role in hair weakness. Vitamins which may help you hair to recover are vitamin E and vitamin B. You may take vitamin B as much as you want while vitamin E has to be strictly dosed. You may take as tablets or by food.

Something to remember.......your hair is dead. It is affected by many factors. At 24 you probably shouldn't have this problem unless it is hereditary. It could be caused by stress. In order for a person to have good hair you have to consume about a gram of protein for every pound you weigh. Also, I would suggest taking at least 1000mg of biotin a day. Biotin will also make your finger nails stronger. It will take a few months to see the results. Your nails will take time to grow out. There may also be pollutants in the air that are affecting your hair. Also remember to eat healthy. Eat what your body needs. Exercise so that your blood circulates effectively. Use a mild shampoo for a couple of months, such as baby shampoo. Good luck.

list of vitamins good for hair:

* Vitamin A: it is an antioxidant that aids in the making of healthy sebum in the scalp. Food sources rich in Vitamin A are fish liver oil, meat, milk, cheese, eggs, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apricots and peaches.
* Vitamin C: they work towards maintaining hair health. Sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, tomatoes, and dark green vegetables.
* Vitamin E: it helps in improving the scalp circulation. Food sources rich in vitamin E are vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans, and leafy green vegetables.
* Biotin: it works as an anti aging agent by preventing graying of hair and hair loss. Sources of biotin are: whole grains, egg yolks, liver, rice and milk.

Remember, too much vitamin A will cause hair loss. Stay below 2000mg a day.

Hello friends,

Vitamins specific to hair growth can help thicken and improve growth rate as well as limit breakage of hairs. Once the growth rate of hair is greater than its rate of breakage, overall length is increased. However, vitamins are not limited to this singular benefit. They can also improve the presence of oils necessary for keeping hair looking youthful and shiny. These nutrients can be acquired through ingesting certain foods or supplements.

# Vitamin C
Vitamin C expedites the rate of new growth, renewal and repair within the body's tissues. This benefit extends to all strands of hair. As an antioxidant, it also acts as a preventative of tissue damage

# Vitamin A
The body requires adequate levels of Vitamin A in order to better protect the scalp from stress or from damage that might affect the adequate growth of hair from the follicles.

# Niacin
Niacin works as a catalyst toward proper bodily function through improving nutrient delivery to the hair.

# Biotin
This B vitamin is necessary for the growth of cells in the body. This naturally extends to the hair, where it is utilized to improve overall growth and strength of hair strands. It is also involved in facilitating the production of amino acids within the body, improving moisture content and shine.

# Vitamin E
Vitamin E is classified as an antioxidant and is effective in improving the circulation of blood throughout the body. Improved blood flow better stimulates follicles to produce strands of hair, through providing nutrients more frequently.

# Beta Carotene
The orange pigmented carotenoid known as beta carotene is important to hair growth, as it is biosynthesized into Vitamin A. It can help sustain adequate and healthy hair growth.

# Prenatal Vitamins
Prenatal vitamins can be taken by women during pregnancy to improve hair growth, strength and overall health. The vitamins are able to accomplish this through elevated amounts of iron, calcium and folic acid content.
