i recently participated in a 24 hour running event this past weekend and the day after i came down with a very painful bout of gout ... quite surprising as i don't fit the stereo-typical sufferer of gout ...

was wondering if my over reliance on accelerade (provided by the race) and power bar endurance drink instead of water could have been a factor ... it was an extremely hot first 7 hours and i'd drink 20oz each 3.5 miles ... didn't pee till past midnight ... but didn't think i was dehydrated at any point in time ...
