Hello! I have just started a new job recently and I don’t feel so comfortable going there as my colleagues are not so co-operative. So, every morning when I wake up I just don’t feel like getting up as to go to work and I get really anxious about spending 8 hours there. When I enter the room I start experiencing heart fluttering as if I were afraid of something. The thing is that I am not afraid, I just don’t like it there. It is a very good job opportunity though. How can I prevent this heart fluttering?

Hi! This is most likely an anxiety symptom. When you get nervous, these stress hormones may be releasing and causing these negative symptoms like discomfort, heart fluttering, maybe even sweating, etc. The thing is that your blood vessels probably shrink due to the presence of these hormones and it is then harder for the heart to pump, so it starts pumping harder in order to deliver enough blood to all parts. Such response is sometimes helpful as it may make you more focused and give you more energy but it may be negative as well causing discomfort especially if it continues for a long time. You need to make another approach. I would either not pay attention to those who are not co-operative or try to communicate with those who are or not pay attention to their inhospitality. Just forget about them and do your work. They may become more friendly as time passes by.
