I am going in for Hemorrhoid Stapling surgery this friday. I have Stage 3 hemorrhoids and the doc said this would be the less painful way to go. I also was informed that down time would be 4 to 5 days, but I am in the dark as to what the recovery experience will entail. My GP examined me and referred me to this surgeon, so they are both of the same opinion - surgery is probably warranted. Is there rectal bleeding after the surgery - and if so - how long will it last? If I limit food intake and drink mostly fluids and water for the week following, will this help to alleviate some of the down time and painful bathroom time, or will this hinder the healing? I will be calling the nurse at the doc's office to see if I can get more info, but I would love to have another expert opinion. Another question - can I loose control of my bowels after such a surgery, and is this a non-reversable outcome that I will have to live with? I think I am just getting a little worried - Thanks for your input! I look forward to your response! 8-|
