I NEED HELP! My finace was hit in to the top, left of his groin area (by penis) with a board that flew out of a skilsaw. He had a large bruise for about a week and now there is a knot in that area that is very hard and seems to be getting bigger. Do you have any ideas what it could be? Do you think it will heal unaided if it is clotted up blood? Please let me know, even the littliest thing may shed some light. Thanks!

I would think that it is most likely a hematoma and should go away within a few weeks. If your really worried I would suggest seeing a doctor about it.

Hope this helps :-)

Take care!

Similarly I got kneed in that area of my groin really hard in a basketball game that sent me to floor hard with the same result, bruise for about a week and now a really hard knot in there. That's why I was searching this post. It seems like it will clear up unaided. I'll try to remember give an update here later.

A few days after this post all the visible bruising went away and the hard lump came right up to the surface, but no coloring on the skin. It's still pretty hard a week later, but doesn't seem to be growing any more. My ability to go out and play basketball has not been affected at all. It's just weird to feel down there and have that lump, but no health concerns to report. I'm guessing it will eventually go away, but don't know until it happens! :-)

Same thing happened to me. I was playing soccer and got kneed in my groin area pretty hard. Bruise for about a week and now its been month and I still have a hard knot. Although it seems to be getting smaller, but it is still there. It has not affected my daily function or any activities.

Just as a follow-up, the knot completely went away by the end of October. While it had me worried at first, it really was just a matter of time for it to go away. Patience is all I needed. :-)
