Interesting question. You really can't check it, other than somehow filling it with air to make sure there are no holes. It's more important to make sure you are handling the condom properly before you need it. Store it in a cool, dark place. Use a condom with a spermacide just to have a second layer of protection in case something does happen. Make sure the wrapper is not compromised. Open it carefully to make sure the condom is not damaged (meaning don't open it with your teeth). Make sure the condom is unrolling the right way on your penis. If you got it backwards, and it's already touched your penis you should not just flip it over...you should get a new condom. And - withdrawal your penis while it is still erect. Once it starts to soften, the condom loosens up and there is a better chance that semen can leak around the sides.
