hi, i just started on a new brand of BCPs after being off them for about a month. i started my pack on Aug 10 and my boyfriend is coming into town on the 19th through the 22nd. i was wondering if that was long enough for he and i to be able to have unprotected sex and him ejaculate inside me without us worrying about an unplanned pregnancy. ive read that i can wait a week after starting BCPs, and ive also read to wait a month, and i really want to be sure. please hurry! i really miss my bf and i really dont want to have to use a condom! thanks!

Hi there,

It all depends on what type of BCP you are now using. Are they low dose or the normal BCP? Most traditional forms of birth control should be in your system for at least three weeks for complete protection. Your birth control package should also explain how they work in the directions. If you still feel uncomfortable call your local clinic or doctor who prescribed your BCP, or local family planning clinic and they should be able to tell you exactly.
Or the two of you can use a condom just to be on the safe side.

NO, VERY UNTRUE..

AS PILL PACKS SAY.. IF you start them on your period you are protected immediately, any other time, and you need back-up for 7 full days..

I am a healthcare pro, and work for planned aprenthood =) I promise, I do know..

Me and my boyfriend have been using condoms all the times that weve had sex. And I recently went on birth control. I really want to do it without the condom.

So all I have to do is be taking the birth control correctly for 7 days, and I should be fine?

Hi
I'm paranoid about becoming pregnant. One day I want to have children, but not now. I've been on the pill since September. Never missed a day. I keep insisting that my boyfriend use condoms because I'm afraid that the pill is not effective enough. He doensn't understand and now it's putting a strain on our relationship.
How crazy am I ....am I really that protected on the pill?

thanks

Dont feel bad about making him use a condum! The pill isnt %100 effective and it doesnt protect against std's. I will continue to make my boyfriend use a condum too. If he is a good guy and cares about you he wont push it. I know it sounds horrible but you never know when your significant other may be cheating on you. I didn't know until it was over that my ex cheated on me. So you never know if you are truely safe from STD's so there is nothing wrong with continued condum use. Protects you from STD's and doubles up to prevent pregnancy. Maybe try using a female condum and see if he likes that a little better.

Hope this helps

I have been on birth control for a little over 2 weeks. I started taking it the first Thursday of my period, which at the time was about the second to last day of it.
Two nights ago I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. am I safe?

My girlfriend has been on it for a few months and we used condoms still but recently we tried it without it and i just "pull-out" and it seems to be safer that way too. It feels sooooooooooooo much better without the condom haha. :]

Hi
I have been on birthcontrol since Febuary of this year, maybe a month or two prior to that, but I definitely know that I was on it for February, March, and April. My period ended on Wednesday May 5th and I forgot to buy a new pack. Tonight, May 10th, the condom broke and I still haven't started my new pack. Is there a chance that I am pregnant? Should I get Plan B tomorrow?
Thanks!!
ps I think I might just buy some Plan B tomorrow anyways, just to be safe!! But I wanted to know if I was being paranoid.

This is what I'd like an answer too also. I've been on Orto-Tricylen for 1 week and 5 days and had unprotected sex Saturday. Should I be safe? I started my Birthcontrol on Wensday and Friday was the last day of my period? Can anyone help? My Boyfriend is scared to death.
