I have had burning and itching in my testicles for over a month. My doctor says it is a yeat infection and that it will go away. She prescribed an antifungal cream that helps only by taking the itching away temporarily but the problem remains. Anyone know how long a yeast infection can last and what other medication I can take to cure it?

A fungal infection of the groin is commonly called jock itch. Is is caused by excessive moisture or sweating in the groin and common in men living in warmer climates. A zinc Oxide ointment (i.e., Desitin, A+D, or generic) provides the best immediate relief and clears it up in 12-48 hrs. To prevent future problems, shower daily and apply medicated powder (i.e., Gold Bond or Ammens) after toweling dry. If you keep the skin dry you'll never experience this problem again.
