How many freaking times am I supposed to push them back in? I'm in tons (TONS) of pain because they are external. I push them in (and way in, mind you, like the doc did), and they come back out.

I have a crazy-active toddler I have to chase and it kills me to move. Doing suppositories 2x day, have Vicodin and Lidocaine (which did not work, strangely, but I will give it another shot). My bowel m's and diet are fine, so that's not currently contributing.

Just wondering when I will be back to normal. This is ridiculous--I am actually disabled due to this. I want to exercise so badly. But nevermind exercise--I'd like to walk, sit, stand without pain.

I'm sorry, but what you're going through isn't just going to get better on its own. I think we all wish that was the case.

If they're as bad as you say and you want them gone surgery is your only option. Be sure to read through these forums first so you've aware of what you're in for. Good luck.

Wow, best news I've heard in a long time. I only noticed I had a hemm yesterday, I started to freak out and read alot about them. My hem is only small and it's only 1 thank god. It's not painfull at all which I'm happy about and I'm taking metamusil 2-3 times a day along with all bran for the fiber and taking 2-3 hot baths a day and hoping it won't get bigger! The only thing I'm worried about now is when I go to do my number 2 it kind of just falls out whilst I've been sitting there for 5 minutes waiting for something to happen and sometimes when I wipe it comes out a bit watery, haven't bled from it thank god.

This article really made me feel better knowing that I will get through this.

Thanks!

Howdy everyone, stumbled across this site this morning and had to look at it. Saturday night my ass started hurtin pretty good and I was about 20 beers into the night (still painful as hell). Next day I was damn near in tears and had myself a giant new friend and a couple minis to boot, had to go see the doctor and he wrote me a prescription for some hydrocortizone/nitro glycerine cream. Does anyone know if it works? Only been about 8 hours since I started it and took a couple baths which helped for a bit, but man I can't even go to work. These things are horrific!! Way worse than the last time I got them, just want to cut my as****e out.

I had surgery Feb. 5th (completely non-related to my nether-region) - and when I ended up with complications, I was on pain killers for quite a while. I've always been regular, and I guess my body really didn't appreciate the constipation. So, about a week after surgery, the mild pain begain. By the end of Feb, it was pretty steady pain, and by the end of March, there was less pain, but I'd started having a good amount of blood when I went to the bathroom. In April, I finally contacted my doctor who prescribed me anusol suppositories, which didn't seem to do much. Within the past couple of weeks, it's moved from painful to awful. The only position I'm comfortable in is sitting leaning to one side (taking turns with the bum cheeks) - laying down is really uncomfortable for me, which is quite a drag, and driving is horrific. I actually set my camera on a timer so I could get a close picture of what is going on - there's an obvious prolapse, and one thrombosed hemorrhoid which is about 1/2" x 1", and another about half that size. I left a message for my doctor today, and am really hoping I'll hear back from her tomorrow. I'd like to have her do whatever is possible to relieve some of the pressure.

External Thrombosed Hemorrhoids can be extremely painful sometimes requiring the prescription of Opiates to deal with the debilitating discomfort. Learn not to take reading material into the restroom and remember to attempt to have a BM bowel movement in the shortest period of time possible without straining or pushing. After you notice anal discomfort you will probably feel around the area and may find a Hemorrhoid that has been become external.
First attempt to sit in a warm tub of water gently clean the area and try to reinsert the inflamed tissue back inside the rectum. Also increase your dietary intake of fiber if possible and seriously consider purchasing a stool softener to take if needed.
If you experience rather extreme pain below the belly button you may very well be impacted with fecal matter. At this point you have two choices you can either go to the ER (ED or Emergency Department) or purchase a bottle of Magnesium Sulfate a liquid laxative. If you go to the ER a CAT scan will more than likely be performed to verify if you are impacted as well as any other intestinal issues? They will give you a laxative to take as well then just stay close to the restroom. I cannot overemphasize the importance of going to the ER or your MD if you experience severe pain. Impaction can lead to life endangering medical conditions such as rupturing the GI (Gastro Intestinal) tract leading to Sepsis (blood poisoning) and even death. I am not trying to scare anyone only to emphasize that some personal issues need to be evaluated by a medical professional, vanity be damned.
If you have been prescribed an opiate Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycotin, Roxycotin, Tramadol Etc. remember that while the drug is needed as a pain medication it interferes by decreasing the effiensea of the sphincter tissue present in the intestinal walls. If you are on Opiates for a period longer than one week you should consider taking a stool softener or fiber supplement to assist in clearing the bowels however discuss this with your MD before you take any action.
It is true that Sitz baths or lying in a tub of warm water after defecation can help to relieve the symptoms of external hemorrhoids an application of ointment and an astringent applied. Soak some cotton balls with the astringent gently place them in-between the buttocks on or to the side of the Hemorrhoid, roll up some tissue or toilet paper and also place this in-between the buttocks as well as the astringent will be more effectively dispersed. Avoid straining and if the condition worsens or becomes chronic and does not react to this therapy within one week seek out Medical Intervention.
If possible check the color and size of your fecal matter after defecation the knowledge of the color of your stool can be quite helpful to an MD attempting to diagnose your issue. Rupturing of an external hemorrhoid will bring about a bloody discharge to your BM. At that point you should strongly consider seeking out a Gastroenterologist for testing, treatment and evaluation. Gastroenterology is a very complex medical science and many factors must be taken into consideration for each individual case as numerous organs are involved in the GI tract a specialist is warranted as your GP will not have the knowledge or facilities to properly diagnose your condition.
If possible take notes before your GI appointment denoting your dietary intake, bowel movements, size, color, bloody stool or other symptoms. This will make your consultation and possible examination more productive and produce better results.
If you are abusing and or addicted to Opiates Please seek medical help as your addiction will affect your intestines as well as causing damage to Organic Brain processes that may take year to return to their normal levels. There are medications that will help with Opiate withdrawals, however you have to want to get off and stop abusing drugs first an MD can prescribe certain medications to assist in your withdrawals.
Remember with Opiate abuse you are damaging multiple organs that can lead to disastrous results.
For External Thrombosed Hemorrhoids there are surgical interventions which can prove to be very beneficial to the patient, such as Rubber band Ligation as well as Laser removal. These types of interventions will bring forth relief and are not as painful as one would think as normally a topical local anesthetic is used in the area being worked on.
I’ve noticed quite a few young people have posted on this forum as you are so young and presenting with these symptoms please consider changing your dietary habits. Also consider annual rectal examinations and if you have a Colonoscopy at an early age have the procedure every 3-5yrs thereafter.
Do Not take Hemorrhoids lightly you should educate yourself as much as possible and seek out medical advice as needed. These little unwanted visitors to the outside world can be excruciating and bothersome however with the proper diet and exercise their impact on your life can be greatly reduced.

Hi guys

I was reading this thread today in the morning , I was in the same situation (4 days of annoying pain and discomfort)

I ended up going to the doctor

She said it would not heal just by bathing and waiting

She put it back in.

Yes, to my horror and pain (but hopefully for the best), she put it back in and gave me some medicine for the next couple of days

Still some discomfort but i'm feeling significantly better

Hope this helps specially for the ones who have been waiting for long, try to get this done

I've just got my first haemorrhoid, and F*CKING H*LL. It's damn painful. I'm only up to day 4 and I feel like I wanna hit something, I'm so tense right now. I really don't want to go to the doctors, cause this is embarrassing. I have a prolapsed Haemorrhoid, and after telling my mother (EMBARRASSING) that I had one, 'she's like push it back in'. I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to push it back in.... not a pleasant task, but the relief was amazing, even if the little b****r tried to rear its ugly head back out a few times. The past few nights I haven't slept, so hopefully now that that is done I will finally get some sleep. I guess it gives me an excuse to lie on the couch now. :D

Reading some of the stories here was such a relief.  As a 41 year old and never had one of these "bum grapes"before, I was freaking out.

How did I get it? I went to Korea for a work trip and ate Korean BBQ for a week solid, heaps of chili kimchi and got smashed on soju and beer everynight.  A great conference, but clearly it played havoc with my internal system.  Within two days of getting home, I had a small bum grape, I was worried, but that was just the beginning...

By day four I had three of these and they had grown to the size of a small pip fruit, they were bleeding constantly and I realised for the first time I could not sit down without bloodying my trousers.  How bad is that!  Now I could not stop work, so I had pads in my arse catching the blood and off to the toilet every thirty mins to change the bloody pad and stick a new wad in there.  This was no fun at all, and I was now seriously woried my arse was gone for good.

Reading stories on this site and others was a relief to know it would go eventually.  For me it was three full weeks before the bleeding stopped totally, and the three grapes had become one tiny pip.  Now my arse is completely healed.

Best remedy, god knows.  I ate no meat for a week, drank heaps of water, prune juice, muslie, and seeded fruit.  I don't know if that cured me or not, but it got my bowles moving.

I hope to never see another arse grape again.  Those horrible weeping piles are a curse...

Before any of you consider surgery, please check into this!

I am a 46 year old female and I have suffered with hemorrhoids for the past nearly ten years. I am also taking anticoagulants after having severe blood clots (DVT- Deep Vein Thrombosis) in my legs.  I am paralyzed from the waist down from a car accident, so while I don't feel the discomfort of the hemmorhoids, I suffer the dangerous risk of bleeding too much unknowingly. I am also seated all day long, which as you may know is not good. I had required a blood transfusion from too much hemorrhoidal bleeding and afterward saw a rectal surgeon who did banding (strangulation) on the roids. He sent me home after a second banding saying, if they flared up again, I should have surgery. Surgery should ALWAYS be avoided if a safe alternative is available. I repeat, IF a safe alternative is available. I am happy to say I found that alternative! Along with diet, which is SO SO very crutial, and exercise. I located a Naturopath who specializes in a hemmorhoidal procedure called "Keesey".  My treatments consisted of a couple visits that lasted about 10 minutes each (I had a LOT of affected tissue to treat) where the doc insterted a small rod which introduces an electrical current at a low frequency, causing the affected tissue to shrink. There are no known side affects to the Keesey procedure and there is no "down time". No sitting on donuts for weeks as you would with surgery.

While my situation is different from the average able-bodied person, I questioned many who have had this done and most of them actually have their treatments on their lunch break and go right back to work. The only downside is getting your insurance to cover naturopathic procedures. I never tried to put mine through my insurance provider claims but the cost for me was only $80 a visit. It was the best $$ I ever spent! No hospital stay, no recovery time, no drugs, no 'extra' bleeding!  I still get flare ups as my lifestyle will always have me predisposed to getting them, however it's nice to know I can just drop by my doc's office for a quick, painless treatment. My primary care physician, who is rather against naturopathic medicine has jumped on board with this treatment as she had never heard of it before and is astounded at the successful results it's shown me. Definitely worth checking into.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

Finally today I learned I am not a huge freak. Thanks for all your posts.  I had thyroid cancer last year.  To say the least with the hormones and medication changes.  I have aged 10 years in one. Year.  I would gain 20 pounds my hair color changed from dark blonde to a reddish color.  Then I started to get really constipated when they changed my dosage of thyroid hormones.  It was almost three weeks of hell.  But I had a new problem Hemoroids.  WTF  three doctors, ER you name it.  Could not sit could not PEE

the hemoroid inside was pushing on nerves to the bladder and the back  I went to the ER room thinking I had kidney stones.

Week four of this.  They are getting better,  but still hurt like hell and make me grumpy.   Doing a pill to keep the urine flowing

doing 600mg of IB poriferin doing two stool softners a night.  Prune juice and mass water.  Hopefully soon this will end .  Have not worked out as it hurts too much.

and my staff would love to kill me I am so fricken grumpy.

Your posts really made me feel better.

Thanks Mike the almost middle aged man.
