Hello. Last week I ate potatoes for my lunch as usual and after several hours I noticed some skin rash. The following day, I went to a doctor. After some tests, I found out that I was allergic to potatoes. I can’t believe this is happening to me! Is this possible? I thought people could be allergic only to penicillin and similar things.

Hello. Well, you shouldn’t be surprised. Potatoes contain proteins which can be strong allergens. Many people experience potato allergy. I am afraid you will have to exclude potato from your menu. If you have some symptoms, you can try with antihistamines. They are very helpful in reducing the symptoms and signs of allergy. You can ask your doctor for further details. I hope you’ll be all right. Bye!
