I can't open my jaw wide! What could be the problem?

I am better now, thank you but I think you are still suffering! I went to my Chiropractor but a physio could also help. I had three sessions, a bit strange and it hurt like hell but I got results, on the last visit my mouth was open completely and I have had no more trouble. My jaw was massaged out side and inside, then the chiro put her fingers as far back on my jaw as she could and pressed down to open and held it for about 2 minutes. it worked!

For about 10yrs, i've been having hard time to open my mouth wide. It would only for upto 2fingers wide ! For about 2months i've been having pain around both sides of my jaw, and my mouth is so tight. It wont even open for one finger. I could feel the swelling on both sides of my TMJ. My primary Dr suggested seeing a dentist, if it doesnt work then a Neuro. Dont know what to do!!

I am having the same pain. I went for x-ray (nothing is wrong) ct scan (nothing is wrong) they say my teeth are not aligned right but my jaw isn't broken weird huh. Well it burns when I swallow liquid food so I know there is some cuts but its weird

Hello, My father had an operation almost 10 year ago, he had cancer and they took out the piece from his mouth. He cant open his mouth much as well cons of the operation. But he has a teeth problem now and need a dentist whom can remove his teeth from that little gap. That how I read your messeage. I would like to know who your dentist is? I will be very pleased. THANKS

Hi Kim. I just went to the dentist and had a filling replaced. I was fine but then a week later it was painful to open my mouth to eat. I can only open it 1 finger wide. It has been two weeks and I have not improved. It seems your problems started with the dentist too. Did you ever resolve this? Did it go away? What did you do?

Hi, since i have ny toothaches it because my wisdom tooth is hurt for four days, . My mouth cant open wide it seems like one inches wide. But then i already take out my tooth . but still cant open wide and its pain if i open . is anything i can do or this is a serious problem ..

I can only fit 2 fingers up and down in mouth and it hurts and if I try to open it more It will crack. Why?

I too have been having issues with opening my mouth to eat since the end of October 2016 so it has been a month now. When I first got the pain I went to a dentist where they took all types of xrays and said that everything was fine so that was a relief. But I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis and was wondering if this symptom can be associated with that? I lost my insurance so I won't be back to see a Rheumatoid specialist till January. Just wondering if any of you might also have RA?

I have it now and i can open my jaw more and more now. Open ur mouth wide but not too wide- in case it click. when ur mouth is open, hold the painful side and put a bit off pressure on it to start stretching the mouth and then it should be fine

just had a bad home invasion and was pistol whipped really hard a bunch of times while I fought for the gun. I ended up winning the situation and pulled his slide back and off of his gun some how. But the damage was done my temple got most of the hits on my left side and now I can't open my mouth wide enough to eat anything of significant size. For 1 it hurts to much and for 2 it's just not possible to get it to open that much. It's been about two weeks now

Hi, I have the same problem as you guys. Whenever I open my jaw wide for a few seconds, I have a feeling of vomiting. I am only 13, when I go to see the dentist. It's really hard for me to open my jaw wide for a few seconds. This matter is making me stress. Maybe there are tips to overcome my problem here?
