I experienced a LIsfranc fx 6 mths ago and altho Xrays show the fx has healed foot pain as lingered and increased. I was non wt bearing for about 3-4 mths and at 4 mths rec'd an orthotic and began full ambulation. I have experienced significant atrophy of the entire limb and consequently my mobility is impaired by pain and muscle weakness. I was sent to a pain clinic for an eval and was told I have RSD in light of the above as well as color/ temperature changes and decreased sensation as evidenced by pricking random areas with a neede. The MD advised a block as the first course of action. My pain is not agonizing nor do I have hypersensitivity to pressure of sheets etc. I am not sure an invasive procedure is the way to go. If I thought it would break the cycle of the syndrome .... but undergoing multiple blocks ( he told me 2 x week initially ) seeems premature. I would appreciate any thoughts...... Thank you.
