Thank you so much for sharing that! I just turned 16 and was diagnosed earlier this year during school when I was 15, everyone made a joke of me saying I was going to be bald and it hurts. Right now I still have my hair and I'm hoping it can stay this way because I love it since it's so long. When I was diagnosed the doctor was shocked that I knew it was there, so he gave me a shot which hurt, but never helped. I am due to go back to him in a month, but my spot has gotten worst and hurts to where I'm in tears and at times screaming. I just don't want to have to go into my junior year bald because I know it will be so hard and embarrassing, but now I know I'm not the only person who is in pain with this.

Don't worry your not the only one! I went to my senior prom half bald. I'm a sophomore in college now and I'm getting my hair back. Honestly those shots are bad for ur health. I've been taking this nutrition drink from Canada everyday. It's called Greenst Kids. It's a powdered thing u put with water and drink. It's nasty at first but u get used to it. My health has gotten SO much better. I feel healthier too. I stopped the shot. And I've been applying salt mixed with lemon on my head. It helps so much! Definitely try it. I know it's hard to go through high school bald but just take it day by day. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Kids will say stuff but once they hit college reality will kick in. Nobody is perfect. And nobody should strive to be. Be happy and confident. I wear a wig! That has helped me tons! It makes me feel pretty and it makes me perfect I'm bald a lot of the time lol so PLEASE if ur feeling really really down...invest in a wig. They're expensive but they are SO worth it. You'll be a lot happier!

Can I ask what type of Onion was used? I really would like to try this method before I go see a dermatologist.

Hi everyone

im 23/f from Australia, I have had alopecia for 3 years but only had 1 small patch which i ignored for 2 years but eventually the situation got worse now both my sideburns have dissapeared and the patch on the side of my head has expanded to about palms size. it started on the left side of my head and now the right side is exactly the same and also a bit of shedding behind my ear and bottom hairline, It isnt as bad as yet  because i have thich black hair to cover it. but I am trying everything to prevent it from expanding.. I do obsess over it quite a bit and i have done quite a bit of research online. I went to the doctors and he suggested i try regaine 5% and corticosteroid injections. So i gave it a go over the year and for some reason none of these worked and after my last set of injections a chunk of hair fell out a week later!!! So after doing some research i heard about the onion and also watched a video on youtube of a little girl who had AU and grew her hair back by using the FUSION Multivatamins and Womens Health tablets. I thought it couldnt hurt to try a natural approach. so i stopped the injections and the minioxidil as i thought they were making things worse in my case and started with the combination of the onion and the tablets. i prefer to use red onion even though it smells so bad!! I am currently on my second week of this treatment and its been good news so far! my shiny bald spots and patches are now slowly filling with fine hairs. there are still some some spots with nothing but i am confident that they too will disapear. It is right what people have been saying that the hairs will grow back very fine and white but will get darker over time. My mum has been monitoring my hair from the back and she has deffinetly seen a difference. I am quite pleased with the treatment. whether it is the tablets or the onion or a combo of both it did the trick and now im hoping to have a permanant full head of hair very soon!! :)

I am in the same boat you are and have been dealing with this now for seven years almost eight. I was swimmer all throughout high school and now will not even step foot anywhere near a pool. I am contimpating whether or not to get hair transplant. I have not gone to a hair cutting place in six years. I have to go get my hair cut by my mom's friend in the privacy of her home.

I was also told I have alopecia areata by my doctor I have 3 spots and my doctor gave me the shot on one of them to see if it would work its been about a month and it looks like its working but I'm scared because I have a dent that wasn't there before and it is sore and I get a lot of headaches n one of my eyes hurts as well I just want to know if anyone is going through something similar

the thing about those spots is that they make your head tender where ever you get them. that's why i also quit shots. They help for the mean time but if i were you id try to find other solutions also. hope that helps! and if your eyes are hurting let your doctor know. that didn't happen to me. i used to get head aches here and there though.

I have had Alopecia Areata on and off for the last 10 years.  I started on a biologic named Stelara for arthritis (off label) and it also cleared up my Alopecia.  This is an auto-immune disease (your body is fighting itself) and drugs that treat auto-immune diseases also will work for this, but they are expensive.
