I have had to abruptly stop taking percoet for medical reaso

I had laser surgery performed to repair a bulging disk and compressed nerves about 4 weeks ago. I had been on percocets 5 mg or hydrocodone 10 mg, 3-4 times per day as directed by my doc, for months prior to the surgery to control the severe pain I was in. I have continued taking the percocets, again as directed, but had to abruptly stop because they had frozen my bowels to the point that I suffered a bowel impaction for which I had to be hospitalized. I do not have any desire to take them in light of this incident, and so I have not taken them at all and it has been almost a week now. I am very anxious and jittery, depressed, sick-feeling, and can't sleep. Seeing as how I'm otherwise a pretty healthy young guy, how long do I have to go through this? Any help would be very appreciated.
