I recently had an MRI of my brain and spine. I have Multiple Sclerosis so I have an MRI every year with contrast to check progression. This time I was getting the mri because I have a rare problem with a 5 day regeim of IVIG infusions and developed aseptic meningitis from it. While I was getting the mri I was perfectly fine as usual, the tech took me partly out and put the contrast into the IV and started the rest of the mri. Within a few minutes I felt a sudden and brutal amount of pain in both ankles I can only explain as about the size of shakles a prisoner would wear around both ankles and a feeling like they were cutting right through the bone. I also have ankelosing spondylitis and nodules on my adrenal glands ( which we don't know why yet, maybe Cushing's) I deal with chronic pain every minute of every day, and I've felt what #10 is on a pain scale so I never use #10 but this pain was something that absolutely took my breath away. I hit the button and kept saying something is wrong. She checked me and said let's just finish and try to stay still. After the mri I asked her what that was from and she said she never heard of this before. I am very sedentary because of my health issues, they were giving me Heparin shots while I was admitted, I don't know if that plays into this at all. The only metal in my body is artery clamps from an abdominal hysterectomy and a titanium marked in my left breast, but again have been getting mri of the brain every year since DX of me in 2008
