I'm 22 years old, and for the past 2 years I have had very bad vaginal itching. I have gone to many many doctors for this, and they always just do some random guessing on what it might be. I have tried EVERYTHING you can think of... like, Steroids from doctors, anti-itch creams, Salt baths, vinegar baths etc... Within the last year the itching has gotten worse. Within the last 6 months I scratch every single day from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I lose sleep because all I do when I'm in bed is scratch. I can't sit down without it itching, I can't lay down, I can't lay on my side, I can't stand in one spot. I am a very sexual person with my boyfriend, I can't even have sex without having to stop early and go to the bathroom just so I can itch. Not one doctor has figured out what it can be. Almost like they don't care.
It starts out as a little tickle and leads to a strong itch.. There is a lot of dis-charge some odor. It's not a yeast infection, it's not an STD I have no clue on what causes me to itch so bad. I have sores from scratching so much, there are little white bumps that come and go everyone once in a while that seem to also itch. I try putting different stuff on it to maybe calm the itching and all they do is burn. I use non scented body wash, laundry detergent is also non scented. I use to shave down there all the time, and I still do shave but not as often cause for some reason when I shave the itching gets worse, but then again, if I don't shave my hairs prick together and that causes more itching... This itching is really ruining my life. I can't wear jeans, all I wear is sweatpants, I can't wear thongs only regular underwear.
I itch so much that it is always swollen, my boyfriend can't even touch down there cause of all the sores. It's very embarrassing. I just want to know what this is, and why it isn't going away... And why the doctors aren't doing more to help me. And Idea's on what I can do if I haven't already done them? Please, anything will help.

Well it could be some sexually transmitted infection. Do you always use the condom? If you have an unprotected sex with your boyfriend it could be some bacteria which causes you an infection each time you have sex. Man are supporting better those infections than woman and when transmitted they can cause a lot of trouble. I had the same problem...and I still have it from time to time. When we use condom everything is fine, once we skip the condom the itch is back. If that's the cause there's no use taking pills, going to your gynecologist if you're going to get infected each time you have sex. So you could try it... Maybe he could go to his doctor too, to see if there's anything that could be related with your problem.

you know i am also 23 now and have the same exact symptoms and been looking everywhere for a answer and seen many doctors, and all they say is it is a inconvenience some people have it. but when i explain how serious it is and how it effects my life they just give more test and drugs and nothing helps. i know it isnt a infection from sex. me and my boyfriend of 3 years been checked for everything trying to find out why the last 2 years i have had this itch. especially every few month it gets worst. some days i am in so much pain from scratching that it still itches and it hurts just to sit or move or lay down. even cold or warm hurts. if anyone has a better idea of what this is or can be would be great. i been tested for all std and so has my boyfriend and we are negative for everything and i mean everything. have had all test and nothing comes back. and we tried to use condoms every time but it doesn't stop the itching ever. so has to be something that no doctor is familiar with. i doubt it just a inconvenience especially if there are many other females having same exact symptoms and nothing medically or home remedies are working.

Oh my word! I am experiencing the same thing. You might have a yeast infection. Start a diet, a dairy-wheat-sugar free diet for a whole month. I did that and got some relief, I wasn't itching as much. Try some over-the-counter inserts. That will help relieve, I recommend to used them at night, there will be a lot of discharge. And everytime you use the restroom, after you wipe put a thin-medium layer of Rescue Balm by Bee Rescued on all around there. That will help keep the skin from inflaming. And see an acupuncturist, they seem to know more about cures for yeast infection. Hope this helps. P. S.: Try wearing cotton undies and looser clothes.

I have the same issue, these are what has helped. For immediate relief make a douche of plain unsweetened yogurt with distilled water and douche. Wash the area with this diluted yogurt solution also.  This should calm the itching...if not coat the inside lips and around the itchy bits with straight yogurt (Greek yogurt is thicker and stays in place longer). Take a liquid tablet of Benadryl to stop the urge to scratch.  Next, check the pH of your vagina, the strips should read from 3.0 to 5, when you test your vagina the strips should read between 3.8-4.2 (normal acidic vaginal environment). Anything over and you have an overproduction of the "bad bacteria". Get Jarrow Formulas Fem Dophilus that provides Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus rhamnosus (these control the bad bacteria, if not get these seperately in another brand). Take 1 orally and insert another vaginally. Also purchase from Amazon also NeuEve Suppository BV Clearing Kit and follow the instructions (you can contact the creator of this product, a doctor, should you have other questions).

If you don't get immediate relief from the yogurt douche, then douche 50/50 with distilled water and hydrogen peroxide 3% solution (it will temporarily sting the sores but will dissapate quickly) - do not dry the area. Then make a make shift bidet bottle (poke a small hole into the top of a water bottle, only one hole as that creates a better stream of water). Then lie on your back, spread your legs wide and allow the cool air to dry the hydrogen solution. Make sure to open the lips of your vagina to dry fully.

As a lifetime caution. Elimiate or cut down drastically sugar in all forms, eliminate chips and other junk, go underwear less when home, stop using panty liners and don't ever use scented douches. If you need to douche (as in this case) do so with distilled water and diluted yogurt, hydrogen peroxide when needed. Always wash your hands before touching your vagina or anus. Don't use toilet tissue, use the bidet bottle to wipe and distilled water soaked, unscented, non-fragranced, lint free baby wipes.

Hang in there, it's tough but don't stop looking for solutions!
