7 weeks pregnant, I can hardly eat or drink without bringing it back up. Most of the time I don't have anything to bring up but my body still tries. I've spat out blood a couple of times, not a lot but blood is scary to see. Any thoughts? Maybe just a dry throat?

Hello, guest.

There are several potential causes for this symptom, including:

Gum disease: Bleeding gums can occur due to gum disease, which is caused by plaque buildup. This condition can lead to bleeding when brushing, flossing, or spitting.

Oral infections: Infections in the mouth, such as oral thrush or viral infections, can cause bleeding and may manifest as blood in saliva.

Respiratory conditions: Certain respiratory conditions, such as bronchitis or pneumonia, can cause irritation or inflammation in the respiratory tract, leading to blood-tinged saliva.

Nasal bleeding: Nosebleeds (epistaxis) can cause blood to enter the mouth and mix with saliva. The blood may be noticed when spitting.

Trauma or injury: If your wife accidentally injured her mouth or gums, it could result in bleeding, which may be present in the saliva.

Medications: Some medications, such as blood thinners, can increase the risk of bleeding, including bleeding in the mouth.

It's important for your wife to consult with a dentist or a primary care doctor, who can perform a physical examination, review her medical history, and order any necessary tests to determine the underlying cause.
