My sister has bacterial eye infection and her doctor prescribed to her chloramphenicol eye drops. I also used that eye drops last year when I had the same problem. Recently I heard that chloramphenicol may damage the liver. Does anybody know what is the impact of chloramphenicol on liver? Thanks!

Well, you have right. People who have problems with liver function must be monitored while they are using chloramphenicol. Because patients with liver disease may have an increased risk of side effects. Also problems with this drug can have neonates and all children under the age of 4, because they do not yet have fully functional liver enzymes.
