Hello, My brothers newborn boy (almost a month now) has been experiencing what they call "seizures" since he was about a week old. It is usually when he is taking a nap, and he freezes up, gets stiff and it lasts only for a few seconds. Yesterday, it happened when he was awake, and he froze, his eyes were crossed and his tongue was funny in his mouth, and then he started crying funny, but then after a few seconds he was fine. What could cause this?? I have read that some infants (my daughter did it) spasm in the period between being awake and being asleep, and it is normal, but could this happen when they are awake? They have been to a doctor, and she said not to worry about it, but that was when it was happening only while napping. Since it happened during the day, they have tried calling the doctor to take a look, but she keeps blowing them off, and won't even return phone calls. They are going to take him to ER and see what they say, and are probably going to change doctors.
