My boyfriend has been having seizure like activity for the past year right before he goes to sleep or when he gets tired. I call them neck jerks because it is a jerking to the left and to the right. Sometimes they are severe. He will wake the next morning and his neck will be very sore but he does not realize how severe they have been unless I tell him. I worry constantly that this will become worse and I will not go to sleep until I know he has stopped and finally asleep. They start out as random jerks when he starts to get sleepy or tired then it gets worse as he starts to go to sleep. I have noticed that they are sometimes more severe if he has been drinking. I did ask if he had ever had a care wreck or any trauma to the head and neck. He did day 3yrs ago he was tackles by his friends goofing off and hit his head on concrete and busted him up pretty bad. He did not go to the emergency room and his friends forced him to stay at their house. He was only 19 yrs old at the time and didn't want his family to know he had been drinking. So my fear is that he could have suffered a concussion or damage to the cervical region. I wonder if there could have been lack of oxygen as well. I seek answers to point me in the right direction on where to find out what is causing these severe and frequent neck jerks. He cannot control them when they happen but stays aware and can talk to you as they are happening which is a good thing, but it is also very worrisome to watch. Any input would be most appreciated.
