Hi, I hope this info can help someone. I had urethral burning, bladder pressure, constantly needing to pee for almost a year. Gynecologist, urologist, urogynecologist all failed to diagnose me properly. I finally went to the National VulvodyniA Website and make an appointment with a Dr. from the list. She happens to be a urologist. She diagnosed me in 10 minutes. Provoked Vestibular Vulvodynia. There are 3 glands on your vagina that form sort of a triangle. The top one is right next to your urethra. The other 2 are near the labia minora on either side, forming the “base” of the triangle. Each time she pressed one of these glands with a q tip I jumped off the table. So what I thought was urethral burning was actually the gland right next to it. It is NERVE pain. Yes, they can burn all day and then get worse after urinating so the aqua phone or another lubricant can help keep the urine off of the glands. The best news is that there is a treatment!
Low dose antidepressant (calms the nerves)
Vaginal Valium (addresses pelvic floor tightness- a factor for me)
Gabapentin cream applied to glands 2x day ( nerve pain blocker)
URO MP- stops bladder spasms
Ophresta estrogen replacement 60 1x day for thinning of vulva, urethra, and vagina
I had already been using Estradiol cream but she switched me to oral because she wants me to use the gabapentin cream.
Guess what? After ONE DOSE of the antidepressant I felt better. The only thing I have used so far is the estrogen pill, antidepressant and the URO MP. After 3 days I feel 90 percent better and I’m still waiting for other meds to be ready as they are compounded at the pharmacy and will be delivered. I’m beginning to wonder if I will even need them.
I always swore if I found an answer I’d share it out as best I could. I truly hope this helps someone. I know what it’s like to feel so helpless and angry that nobody can help you. Good luck and God bless. Stay strong!

WHAT is the URO MP? Is that physical therapy but internal? I did that too for over a year but it didn't help so when i did find a doctor that prescribed meds for the nerves in there it worked great, no more pain ! Then i had knee replacement and after surgery because of the catheter they used during surgery it made it come back with a vengeance. Now I'm going to a urologist that has given me trigger point therapy but it made it hurt so much worse and one of the ingredients was lidocaine, that stuff kills me. She's called in some Gabapentin suppositories for me and I'm waiting on those. Dear Lord I hope they work. I've been given estrogen vaginal cream as well but never kept up with it, I suppose I should try it again. Thank you for the info I'm going to talk to my doctor again.
