i've been on yaz for about two years now, give or take a few months. i've never had any problems with it (besides being forgetful to take my pills sometimes) . but for some reason now i'm having irregular bleeding, like a full on period (slightly heavier than my normal ones) . like i said l i am forgetful, but i believe i've only been late on a couple of pills this week. and my period was a week and a half ago, maybe two weeks. this bleeding started the morning after i had sex with my boyfriend and i noticed a little bit of pain during (not too unusual, not first time having sex either) but it's not plain blood like it would be from an internal tear. it's been two days now and my back is hurting like a normal period. i was thinking maybe it's about time i switch my birth control? this is the only kind i have ever been on. or maybe i should wait it out and see if it happens again? i'm not sure, i was wondering if this has happened with anyone else on yaz or birth control. by the way i'm 17 and have always had regular periods even before yaz.

I was on orthotricyclen (idk spelling haha) for a year, then had the same problem you are having. So I switched my birth control to yaz and the same thing happened a year later. I am not sure why it happened, I told my my doctor I thought my body had gotten used to the b/c and it was time to switch to another one. She didnt say anything to me really, just said okay and wrote a prescription. You can always call your doctor and ask to speak to them or a nurse (my ob/gyn was at the local hospital so they always had nurses).
I decided to give my body a break from birth control after 2 years of taking it and everything went on as normal.
