My BMI is 17.6, I am 18 years old, 5'7.5" and 114lbs. I'm a pretty healthy eater (following the 80:20 rule and limiting processed foods whenever possible), I am also very active (running, hot yoga, biking and working out daily) and preparing myself for a 10k in December. We calculated our BMI in exercise science today and my teacher was concerned when mine put me in the "underweight" category ("normal" is over 18.5). Personally I believe that if you eat right and stay fit, your body will follow and naturally put you at the weight you're supposed to be at. In the past I've heard that BMI is not an accurate way to figure out whether or not you're "healthy" but was wondering if I should be concerned. If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd appreciate a shout back!
