I have been on the pill for 8 years. I recently (at the end of the last pack) decided to stop. A couple of weeks later my husband and I were having sex when the condom broke. He "pulled out" and it was the only time we had sex in that time period. It was one day before ovulation according to an online calculator. Now it has been 9 days. Yesterday I noticed a feeling in the very center of my abdomen that feels almost like my period starting (Except it is a week before that would happen if I was still on the pill) Also my breasts are swollen and a bit sore. Is my body just acting weird cause I am off the pill, or is it possible that I might be pregnant? Is it too soon to test?

Hi there,

Considering you were on the pill for 8 years than your body is more than likely going through changes since it doesn't have the birth control pill in it's system anymore. I know it can be very confusing because it may happen around the time of ovulation and pregnancy would be a confusion. Your period may also be late. After birth control it tends to slow it down to get back to normal. I went from 28 day cycles to 45 day cycles for 3 months after going off birth control. Give it a little while and it should get back to normal. If not you can always go to your doctor and see what s/he thinks. I hope this helps and good luck!
