I have an iud for 3 years now and all of sudden on april 14 and 15 i've been spotting light pinkinsh blood and when i looked at my underwear on April 15 there was brown blood on them. i've been having cramping here and there a couple of days before april 14. My last period was on March 20. what do you think this could mean? Can someone tell me what they think?

Dear Chula24: The only 100% chance of not getting pregnant is not having sex. Women can get pregnant even after a partial hysterectomy. If you have part of any ovary, that is all you need to still get pregnant. An IUD offers VERY good protection. But that doesn't mean it's 100% right?
So now lets talk about what the spotting could be - #1 the egg is fertilized and has emplanted into your womb! #2 Your IUD has slipped out of position - which can happen. #3 You Have a yeast infection, which sometimes you might not even know about. #4 You have an STD - I think this is less likely than all the others. Since it is the 15th, you can wait just a few more days and then take a pregnancy test! If it is negative, see your doctor and make sure you don't have a yeast infection, and that your IUD is still effective and in place. GOOD LUCK and HEALTH
