So my girlfriend and I had unprotected sex two times in a row a few days ago. Before we did it I hesitated and said something about the possibility of her becoming pregnant. And she reassured me that everything would be fine because she takes her birth control pills every single day and that she has been on it consistently for two and a half months or so. Although, She failed to inform me ,however that on that day, the day of intercourse, that she had taken her pills a few hours later than usual. Approximately 3-3&1/2 hours late. Her pills are something called sprintec and it's a combination pill. I've done much research regarding how effective this type of birth control pill is and it seems to be reliable but not 100% as all birth control pills are not. I know there's a chance of conception, I'm not completely stupid. I just want to know how the chances of her becoming pregnant are affected by her taking that one pill a few hour late. And if I should continue to be paranoid.

Hi Carl,
A few hours late, once in a while, isn't that big a concern.
Relax. While no birth control pill is 100% effective she is protected.

Thank you. I'm a very paranoid person and I've heard alot of good things whilst partaking my research escapade on birth control. But I just keep getting nervous at that .1% or 1%

And btw in your professional opinion do you think she is likely to become pregnant? I know how dumb I sound I just need some reassurance :

Carl, it depends exactly upon where she was in her cycle.
When did her last period START or when does she expect her next period to START? When did you have sex?

Well when we had sex I think she was about a week away from her next period. So she probably had her last one about three or four weeks before we did it.

If she is a week away from her period, or at least less than about 10 days on average, it is VERY unlikely she would get pregnant.
Day 1 of her cycle is when her period starts. She normally will ovulate sometime between days 11 and 16. 48 hours later, the egg is not able to be fertilized, it's not viable. You likely had sex on/about day 21.
Hope it helps.

That helps tons and it makes me feel alot better! Thank you so much! I'm still kind of worried about her taking her pill late that day. She told me that she heard somewhere if she didn't take it on time every day that her chances are increased. I jus don't know what to think lol I feel like an id**t :

So my girlfriend finally had her period and it was approximately 6 days after we did it but it was lighter than normal. She said that birth control can make them lighter and I have also heard that but I was also wondering what you think?
