Hello. Purpura Henoch-Shonlein represents vasculitis. Vasculitis represents inflammation of the wall of blood vessels. Mostly, small caliber vessels are affected. Those are capillaries. In this case, skin and kidney capillaries are affected. That is why your friend suffers from kidney pain and has urinating problems. She should take this disease seriously. I hope she will feel better. Good luck!

My Grandson has been diagnosed with HSP.  He is 10 and was diagnosed at least 10 months ago.  He was taking prednisone, and now off of that, however, the doctor has recommended a KIDNEY BIOPSY.  Why that?  That sounds too invasive for what his treatment has been so far.  Has  anyone else been through this?
