usually with shellfish allergies, a person gets anaphylaxis (or anaphylactic shock) their throat swells up, they get all puffy in the face, and alot of ppl perish from asphyxiation from allergic reaction to shellfish. Go to your gp and get him to do an allergy test for shellfish, tis the only way to be 100% sure, unless u go into anaphylaxis

Hi Enai,

Nausea is common with food allergies as well.  Not everything develops into full blown anaphylaxis but it is a concern.  Usually they tend to develop an outbreak of hives from the bodies histamine response.  Breathing problems develop and the blood pressure drops from vasodilation - your feeling of blacking out.

Saying that, see your GP and get tested.

It is also possible that it was a "dodgy prawn."  Food poisoning can do this sometimes.  Common in seafood, bacteria can make a toxin that causes these reactions.

It also could be a combination of other items.  Testing is needed to determine what is causing your symptoms.  Did you have alcohol?  It can make the symptoms worse.

Good luck.
