I too have an allergy to fowl but my allergy goes one step further. Im also allergic to fish. Now fortunately I can eat all the pork, beef, shellfish and venison that I want.
Not sure about everyone else but Im 46 and acquired my allergy around age 15. My allergies are so severe I suffer anaphylaxis upon ingestion of fish or fowl.
What I have found out over the years is that if you extract the oil from the fish or the fowl, I can eat it. Its not the meat itself that Im allergic to. Its the oil.
Have been told that the oil in fish that keeps its skin slick in water and the oil in the bird that allows its feathers to remain fairly water resistant have similar properties in them. Its those properties that Im allergic to.
Just thought this info might help those of you with this allergy better understand what it is you may actually be allergic too.
If I extract tge oils out of the meats I typically can't eat, I can then eat them.
