i had two periods in april first on the 3rd and then on 27th. then had unprotected sex on 13 May using the withdrawal method. on the 19th of May i went for my first depo provera shot. i have now missed my May period i am also experiencing stomach cramping though not frequent and passing out gas jus after the cramp plus slight back aches. could i be pregnant or its the depo. i know its wise to go for a preg test but jus want your opinion. thank you

Hi hon: that is a hard question too answer, as BOTH can produce the exact same symptoms. The withdrawl method is only 65 - 75% effective ONLY when you follow your ovulation date too the T. Now Depo Provera can totally affect your periods and your body doesn't react very well when given hormones - at first anyway.

So it is probably best you get a pregnancy test, because that would be one full month since the unprotected sex. This is totally enough time for your HCG levels too be detected. Let me know how you make out OK? AND if you are pregnant, you need too tell the doctor ASAP, as this can create a few problems - you being on contraceptives. Good luck!
