Leaking anus after hysterectomy

I have just stumbled upon your website and to my amazement have realized that I am not alone with this unique (I thought) problem!

I had a hysterectomy about 3 years ago, all went well except after this op I have been suffering a "leaking" anus. It is a clear whitish odourless liquid and does not have anything to do with bowel movements, it just leaks all the time.

I went to see a doctor about it soon after my op and was told to leave it alone, not to go back and have it seen to, as another op trying to fix it may result in the rest of my life being incontinent!!!

So I now just live with it, it is not too bad to cope with, I just squash a piece of toilet paper or tissue in and around my anus and every 4 hours or so when going to the toilet replace it with a clean dry one!

Would be nice though if I could get rid of it! Will try garlic and cranberry juice but don't think it will help. Any more suggestions would be very welcome.

I am 62, and very healthy and fit otherwise.
