Hi, I was diagnosed with lichen planus, located on my mouth. That means I have those itching, flat-topped reddish bumps. I found out that Lichen planus is a common skin disease, and that LP can occur anywhere on the skin, but mostly on the inside of the wrists and ankles, lower legs, back and nek. I know I`m a »special case«, having LP on my mouth. I was wondering...anybody heard anything about some sort of a cure?

Hi, I have this problem too, not a special case like you, but still it is a problem. There is no cure for skin LP, but I know that the treatments are mostly effective in relieving itching and destroying the rash. You should know that every case of lichen planus is different, and same goes for the treatment. The ugly part is that, when LP heales, it often leaves a dark-brown discoloration of the skin. LP of the mouth most commonly affects the inside of the cheeks, gums and tongue and is more difficult to treat. Also, oral LP lasts longer than skin lichen planus. But, to comfort you, it causes minimal problems. Don`t know anything more about oral LP, sorry...
