I notice very few posts about long term adverse effects of Amphotericin b. It saved my life along with Rocephin, but left me with additional lifetime side effects. Drug hypersensitivity is just one, photosensitivity(I blister in the shade with clothing), I have pulmonary fibrosis with emphysema(diagnosed 10 years ago, and they said I'd be gone in 5 years), can't even risk Rocephin now due to anaphylaxis, csf infections from sinuses, GI system is plagued with ulcers(Billroth 1)...I'm 52 now, and have battled this since rhizopus was found in my sinuses at age 30. I was so sick during treatment, I wasn't going to keep going(didn't realize I was dying either) I was an account executive, mother of a 5 year old, no HIV or diabetes. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this result? Honestly, I have pushed forward in life through it. But I have to say it almost isn't worth it. Trade one symptom for others caused by the treatment needed to stop the initial disease.... A never ending cycle...
