Yeha it's is bad,I was hospitalized with the highest second CK count ever recorded. When it was checked it was at 375,000. The only other guy that had one higher than meme was over 1 million and he was pretty much dead and kept alive hospitalized with the highest second CK count ever recorded. When it was checked it was at 375,000, and that was when it was on its way down. The only other guy that had one higher than me had over 1 million and he was pretty much dead and Was being kept alive in the intensive care unit. that was seven years ago, and I still have really bad muscle fatigue and pain and constantly dehydrated.

I also got rhabdo from spinning class just over a year ago. I spent four days in hospital on a drip and wasnt allowed pain medication. I still get muscle pain especially in my leg that was the worst effected. Im wondering is there any way of helping with the pain without having to take painkillers?!

Hi Hun , I'm a Nurse and got Rhabdo August 22 2015, a severe case, never sick ever before Rhabdo. No a horrible case of Colitis 4/23/2016 and just got out of another hospital stay for Abdominal pain ... unknown why at this time.. my affected right thigh was where the Rhabdo hit first.. to this second it stays swollen and hurts and stays with heat in it constantly.. I'm definitely without a shadow of doubt that it has hit my body like a freight train .. I'm trying to find someone to truly will listen and knows cases of how this affects some folks after it's treated.. The cases I've read definitely tell me what I felt in my gut all along. If anyone has a Doctors name please forward ..
GOD BLESS ❤️

Have you improved since this posting. I went in to Rhabdomyolysis after being in surgery for over 6 hours on my left side. It came from my obesity. I also have pain on my left leg. They said it took them 45 mins to get me in position for the right kidney removal due to cancer

For those interested in the recovery outcome.
I was in the hospital for over 5 days and release with CPK levels of 15K, only because the doctors felt I was so well self-informed that I would be able to take care of myself. Conditional that my blood levels would continued to be monitored by my doctor every 2nd day.

At one point in time, my creatine levels were off the chart based on the hospital equipment. They could only read 165K.

My Rhabdo came as a consequence of strenuous upper arm exercise. I lost a substantial percentage of my biceps.

Afte a few weeks of recovery, I started to do Crossfit again. To my dismay, I had no upper body strength. It has taken my a while to recover but, I have had no more incidents of Rhabdo and my physical condition in terms of strength and endurance is far superior that 2 years ago. I have no muscle pain either.

I came to this site to read more since at times I question if my limitation of the number of pull-ups has anything to do with Rhabdo or my age, since I'm 50.
I have not been able to get a clear response to my question from my readings but, as I read, I felt that other could benefit from reading about my outcome.

I was recently discharged from the hospital with Rhabdo after being admitted for 6 days. Spin class got me too. I have been wondering the same things you are. You're not alone!

I got rhabdo from a virus in November 2015. My levels only got to 1200 but I couldn't even hold a spoon to eat. I was hospitalized with IVs for about 4 days. I can't ever find answers on this or long term affects. I have had the hardest time getting back in shape. I started getting lower back pain not long after having rhabdo and can't seem to get past it. Chiropractor doesn't help much and nothing seen from X-rays and other tests. I believe maybe my muscles were severely weakened in my back and I haven't been able to build them up yet. I also have way more random issues and never experienced any issues prior to rhabdo. I am 34 now and don't feel old at all, just confused on what is going on and what I'm supposed to do. I can't seem to get back up on top of my life or in control of my health. Do you still experience issues similar since your sickness some time ago? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I was given 600 mg ibuprofen and Percocet for the pain. Mine was pretty extreme (I had taken hydroxycut for three days and it gave my rhabdo. I am actually back in the hospital today because of terrible muscle aches and abdominal cramps (similar to what I was experiencing when I had it) and it was caused because I was incredibly dehydrated again and i was about to start damaging my kidney. Since I drink a lot of alchohol I was told rhabdo is something that we will have to continue to deal with for the rest of our lives

I am 22 years old and I know exactly how you feel (I had taken hydroxycut for three days and it gave my rhabdo) I am actually back in the hospital today because of terrible muscle aches and abdominal cramps (similar to what I was experiencing when I had it) and it was caused because I was incredibly dehydrated again and i was about to start damaging my kidney. Since I drink a lot of alchohol I was told rhabdo is something that we will have to continue to deal with for the rest of our lives. I've been told twice now that once your body is flushed by doctors or whatever they need to do because the after effects are not well known and the "help stops there". It's rather unfortunate that the medical fiend isn't well aware of what happens to us after wards /:

It seems this whole page is questions about recovery which seems to never happen. I am so sad. I had rhabdomyolysis after taking antibiotics for pneumonia. I can barely write my name or brush my teeth before my shoulder gets tired.

I developed severe rhabdo with heatstroke and associated organ failure on a training exercise in the military in 2012. I was in a medically-induced coma for 5 days and in a wheelchair for 6 weeks. It has been nearly 5 years and I still get severe muscle spasms with exertion, sometimes during exercise, though usually at night. Whatever muscle group(s) I work out develop massive cramps, the kind that make you jump out of bed, swearing and knocking things over.

This has been getting worse over the past two years and it's starting to border on unbearable. The docs have prescribed everything from muscle relaxants, to medicine for "Restless Legs Syndrome," to Ambien. Nothing helps. My wife has to help pull my hands, feet, and legs back into position until the cramps go away. Sometimes the spasms are so severe that they result in muscle pulls, and I'm walking with a cane the next day.

The big issue I'm having is that the docs are telling me they don't have any data on anyone who had rhabdo as badly as I did and lived, so they have no idea how to proceed. One civilian doc thinks that the spasms may be a result of nerve damage from rhabdo; another thinks that since I also had ARDS during the episode (I aspirated sand when I went down), that pulmonary scarring/fibrosis may be causing an issue with oxygen uptake, resulting in the spasms after and during exercise.

The VA also doesn't acknowledge any lingering effects from rhabdo, so there's no chance of a VA rating or even a medical discharge due to this. Which is just, you know, nifty.

Anyone else have muscle spasms long after rhabdo? If so, what treatments worked or didn't?
