Myself, my mother, my aunt, and grandmother all have the same symptom of our period beginning, lasting for about five days, then taking a day off(as in stopping, no blood, no dripping, nada), and resuming the next day for two days, totalling seven days of bleeding.
None of us take birth control. One of us has her tubes tied. We're fairly regular in terms of being closer to a thirty day cycle than a forty. So far, no one seems to have health complications due to this (and we're all fairly healthy, too). No physicians or web searches have heard of this.
Is there anyone else out there who has this? Knows what it means - like we're low on a vitamin or something? We're just curious.

YES! My mother never had this, but I used to. My periods went for longer than yours though. And nobody had ever heard of it - the best explanation I had was from my GP, who said "if it's normal for you, then it's normal" and that I should only worry if it changed. I did have endometriosis (on the ligaments) and after surgery for that, the 'day off' went away, but I think it's come back today, which is why I did the google search and found your post. I don't have answers for you, but you're not alone!

For the past few months my period has taken a couple days off in the middle. Cramps go away too. Everything comes right back after 2 days. You are not alone. WEIRD though!

Hi, everyone.
It is possible for a menstrual period to skip a day in the middle. This is often due to hormonal fluctuations, which can lead to an irregular menstrual cycle. If this happens, it is important to keep track of the days of your menstrual cycle to ensure that it is not a sign of a more serious medical condition.
If the irregularity persists, it is best to speak to your doctor for medical advice.
As someone already said, anxiety can cause the same problem.
