Congratulations hon, you just had your first period!!!
When a young lady has her very first period, she may not have another one for quite a while, maybe even months. This is all part of the process.
Your one day period is quite normal and nothing for you to even think twice about.
Now is the time to start a calander so you can track your periods. Just grab a pocket book planner and keep it specifically for your cycle. Watch and see how your cycle progresses monthly. When you finally get regulated, which will probably take a while, you will be able to determine just what cycle that you will be on. Some are 26 days, some are 28 days, some are 31 days, you will be able to figure this all out as you progress thru the months. Take note of the intensity of your period for that particular month, was there a lot of cramps, breast tenderness, back aches, take note of the flow as well, heavy, light and how long.
Also, take note of the week or so before your scheduled peried (you will take a while for this one) Do you get PMS? You may break out a little before it comes on, you may be extra sensitive (moody) you may be extra hungey and have cravings, mine was salt and chocolate. You may put on a little water weight, you will notice this when it's a little snug in the jeans, this goes away. Just take note of these clues. Once you get on a regular cycle and if you keep a nice calander, you will be able to know exactly when your period is going to start. Knowing when it's coming allows you to plan around it, i.e. swimming, vacations etc.
Keep a pad in your locker at school or carry one in your purse all the time. Kotex puts a nice one out for young girls, it is small and compact and fits nicely in a small spot.
