Why does your menstural cycle stop in water?

Loading...

I had similar reactions as well, but then I read that it actually doesn’t stop.
Although there may not be a flow while we are in water, the period continues.
Since period is regulated by hormones and comes out from the uterus, being in water shouldn’t interfere with the process.
It may happen that some blood is leaving but is being washes away by water.

If you are asking yourself if you should use tampons or not while in water (I don’t mean showers and baths), the answer is yes. Certain infections may occur and you wouldn’t want to pass your inner blood into the water where other people are swimming as well.

the flow actually doesnt stop. for your ENTIRE period, you lose about two tablespoons of blood. that comes out to a few milliliters per hour. also, the pull of gravity on your body is less underwater, and so the amount of blood that actually escapes the body is undetectable.
