I recently read some article about the diet drug meridia. It seems that drug has been linked with more that 25 deaths and most of them are related with cardiovascular problem while they were on meridia. Few years ago were suspended in Italy, and there were reports in Britain and France. Well, articles like this one rely worries me. I mean there are so many diet drugs, that are dangerous and we are not aware of it. I used one last year. Anyway, I would like to hear more about the diet drug meridia, who can and who can’t use it?

The diet drug Meridia is indicated for people who need to lose 30 pounds or more depending on height. It should be used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet. If people are taking prescription medicines called monoamine oxidase inhibitors, they cannot take Meridia, also if patients have anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, are taking other weight loss medications that act on the brain or are allergic to any of the ingredients of Meridia. I haven’t read that article but I guess it is possible because Meridia substantially increases blood pressure in some patients and It should be given with caution to those patients with history of hypertension and should not be given to patients with uncontrolled or poorly controlled hypertension.
