I have been on methadone for reducing chronic back pain, but now would really like to get off of it. My doctor doesn’t seem to know very good way for this, and I have nobody else to advice me. I am now on a very low dose that I have determined by myself, and am experiencing severe side effect like diarrhea, headache and the back pain is back as well. Is there anybody else who managed to get off. How?

First of all, I think that you need to find another doctor who is capable of helping you with this sort of things, as this is not the matter one can do on its own. All I know is that if you take a low dose, your tapering will be slow as well. It would be best if you used a liquid form of methadone, it is supposedly easier than with the pills. I wish you all the best in your attempt!!!!

wait a day or two, after getting down to less than 30mg a day. then, switch to suboxone. you will be sick as hell 1 or 2 days, but then ok... u can stop ater a month on suboxone, after low dose methadone.
