I am taking methadose as pain reliever and I read yesterday that this guy didn’t know how to taper, so he just scraped about 1 mg of the his pills. Is this a good idea? What can I expect when I decide I want to get off methadose? How should I do it?

Well, you definitely shouldn’t do it on your own. You need to have a specialist by your side when doing this. You didn’t say anything about your dosage but the rule is that the lower dosage you have, the slower you should taper. The rate your dosage should be decreased depends entirely up to your personal reaction. The bottom line is to avoid withdrawal symptoms, or at least keep it tolerable. I was very moody when getting of, couldn’t sleep, so I was taking ambient, I was restless, and irritable-definitely not a period I remember gladly.

Meth withdrawal is about the worst withdrawal there is. Its 3-5 months of no sleep, AT ALL. Not hungry, spasms, chills, and all the other opiate withdrawal symptoms except it lasts a hell of a lot longer. I know from experience. I kicked cold in jail in the 70's and it was by far the worst experience of my life. If you're planning on kicking meth make sure your Dr. prescribes sleeping med and valium, that will help.
