I have been using Methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis but I have also heard that it is used for ectopic pregnancy, to end it I mean. How is that possible? It looks like a powerful medicament, being able to destroy cells, and it makes me wonder how safe it is for me to use it?

Well, look at it this way. You have been using it for some time now, and I guess it showed positive effect, or else you would not be using it. Also, I guess you did not feel any serious side effects, again, you would stop using the drug. So, what is the problem if it has some other function? You have top know that most of medicaments today can be used to treat several conditions, which seems not related at all.

Ectopic pregnancies are terminated using MTX because of the action it has against folic acid.
