Hello, I have a daughter, she is 4 years old. A year ago, leukemia was diagnosed. The condition is very serious and you might imagine how it affected us all. When that happened, I was desperate but have decided to fight for her health and cooperate with doctors. She is currently on methotrexate and I would like to know something about the side effects.

Methotrexate is a folic acid antagonist. It inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acid by blocking the enzyme that helps with transformation of folic acid to its second form. Side effects (bad ones) are enteritis, stomatitis, bone marrow depression, alopecia. In the case of more severe effects, folic acid is used to prevent serious problems.
