For the last year or so I have been having strange symptoms but do not know the cause. I am hoping someone knows what is happening to me. They started out happening every once in a while, then got more and more frequent, now I am hardly able to maintain my house and take care of my son.

It started with just migraines, which I have suffered from all my life. They became more frequent and started getting worse with a lightheaded or almost dizzy feeling. They are mostly behind my eyes, but sometimes move to the top and back of my head. I started feeling tired all the time, but also have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep no matter how tired I am. Recently I have started feeling nauseas a lot, sometimes for hours at a time. I also noticed a few days ago when I get the migraines and the nausea I am very shaky and weak. Sometimes to the point where I can't stand or even sit up. I have a history of Lupus in my family but I've been tested for it and everything came back negative. Also, my father passed away from Diabetes, but I do not have that either.

It's really driving me crazy because I have a little boy who is 21 months old and I can hardly spend time with him because I feel so ill and fatigued. I am a 23 year old woman, I should be able to enjoy my life and my son, but this seems to be taking control of me. And help is greatly appreciated, I am at a complete wall when it comes to finding out what is wrong with me.

What does your diet consist of? and about how much do you exercise a week?

My diet is pretty basic. I eat cereal or fruit for breakfast, for lunch I'll usually eat something small, like a tuna wrap or salad or sometimes if I'm not hungry I just skip it, which I've always done. Dinner I eat a salad almost every night, with chicken, pork, or beef. Sometimes I'll have potatoes with it. I changed my diet about 2 months ago because I am trying to lose weight, but the symptoms started long before that. I don't have a set exercise schedule, but I try to go for a walk with my son everyday. We live on a semi private road about a mile long and I walk all the way to the end and back. I also go outside and play with him, kicking or throwing a ball around the yard. Since I am a stay at home mom there isn't too much time for real exercise, I am pretty active though, until lately. The last week or so I haven't been able to do it much because I've been feeling so weak and tired.

my medical knowledge is pretty basic...there arent any diseases from your parents or recessive genes that might have surfaced are there?

My family has a history of Lupus, Diabetes, and heart disease. My mother has Lupus, my father passed away from Diabetes, and my grandmother had congestive heart failure. I've already been tested negative for all three. This is why I'm having such a hard time figuring out what is wrong with me. I feel so helpless because I have no idea what is wrong, so there's no way to fix it. Part of changing my diet was to lose weight, and also I changed it because I thought maybe my diet was what was causing the symptoms, but there haven't been any improvements, it's actually gotten worse since I've started eating better so I don't think my diet has anything to do with it.

I am 43 and have experienced most of these same symptoms such as migraines in the top and back of head, lightheaded, dizzy, problems sleeping (feeling like a mac truck hit me after waking up), very fatigued as well as many others. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with Fibromyalgia and since then, underactive thyroid, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, hormone imbalance, arthritis.   Many of the things I have seem to be linked with Fibro when researching.  This is something you might want to do a lot of research on and talk to your doctor about to possibly be tested for as well. Even though there are some doctors out there that still believe this is all in your head but it definitely is not and there are more and more doctors getting on board with the reality of Fibromyalgia and how debilitating it can be. A lot of your symptoms that you have described can relate to this syndrome as well as many others that you could experience later if you are not already experiencing some of them as well to such as widespread pain throught your body as this can move around and when you have a flare it is horrible or numbness and tingling in your hands and feet. I was also tested for Lupus as well as MS to rule them out. Fibromyalgia can't be diagnosed through blood tests it can only be diagnosed after all other medical conditions through blood tests have been ruled out and some will do the 18 trigger points test on you to see if you have at least 11 painful trigger points. Even if you don't it doesn't mean you don't have it but more than likely you will have most of them if you do have it. Hope this helps and let me know the outcome of what you find out.

I had all of the symptoms you are describing and was diagnosed with a vestibular disorder due to long term migraines. It's an inner ear disorder, even though the symptoms can refer to weakness and tingling in your extremities. I would have horrible nausea, sweating, fatigue, and of course dizziness. I went to a vestibular specialist in an ENT's office and got help, although the symptoms are there sometimes still..it's nothing like before.

Hi, I have a lot of the same symptoms as you. No idea what it is either.
But I have to ask you this, have you had your POTASSIUM checked ? Sounds like it's LOW to me, Mine gets LOW & I feel like you say you are feeling !!!
But other than my Potassium, I feel like I could pass out at any minute from a Migraine, fatigued & stomach sick ....... my body feels like it's dying !!! Dr. says they don't know what's wrong !!! :(

I don't experience mid afternoon slump/fatigue no matter what I do or eat. Is it a reason for concern? I sleep very well at the night and I exercise regularly.

I have been diagnosed with vertigo. I need to know what it is and why I have it, and how I got it. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? Thanks, Tina
